Malus coronaria is an underrated, rarely planted, fragrant flowered crabapple with the most spectacular, pink flowers in May, diffusing a sweet scent around. Usually small sized and slower growing, a 2-3m tall shrub-like specimen is already 10-15 years old. The flowers are followed by yellow, slightly flattened fruits of up to 5cm in diameter, dropping early in Autumn. American Crab is easy to grow, not fussy to soil, yet not often planted. Fully hardy.
