The Pittosporum heterophyllum (Chinese Pittosporum) is an easy to grow, medium sized evergreen shrub or small tree that originates from China. The dark, evergreen foliage provides an excellent backdrop for the yellow flowers, which appear late Spring, and give off a sweet scent, similar to that of the orange blossom. From the flowers, round fruits develop and when opened they reveal numerous showy orange seeds (not edible). Hardy to -10C, it usually overwinters well in a sheltered spot, outside, from year two.
